Pride and Prejudice, first published on 28 January 1813, is the most famous of Jane Austen's novels. Based on the conflict between a man (Fitzwilliam Darcy) and a woman (Elizabeth Bennet), the novel capture, in a vibrant way, the war between genders : the sex war.
Everybody knows the first sentence of Jane Austen's It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.Pride and Prejudice.
The book ends with two marriages: Jane and Mr. Bingley, as well as Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. While the Bennets go their separate ways, both couples live happily ever after. So we can say that the war ended with a truce.
